My initial reactions to the Vester Flanagan case were very emotional. I decided to explain myself before I released my thoughts on the issue itself. While I don't condone Flanagans actions or his behavior leading up to this tragic event, I still can't help but wonder what difference it would have made had someone just stepped in and offered him some help. I understand that employers don't necessarily have as much power as I think in terms of offering assistance to employees. Nor is it the easiest thing to do, even as a close friend or esteemed coworker.
But, through my emotions, I bring up a valid point--not one person thought that this man needed help, not even to talk about his issues. I don't have the answers, though. I simply just want to start a conversation regarding mental health in this country and people coming together over love. Watch the video above and comment, please!
